Spending time on the hay rack/hitching rack (teaches patience, makes it safe to tie them overnight on camping trips because they are already accustomed to this discipline).

Click on embedded arrow ABOVE to see our trails near Somerville, TX at Nail's Creek Park and a beautiful ranch in Brenham, Texas on July 4th, 2010 weekend.  You will not actually see him in these videos, but he went on this trip with us and since there were quite a few creeks and I was just training him to cross watery obstacles, I did not carry my camera when I rode him.

"Stevie Ray" (as in one of my favorite blues singers, Stevie Ray Vaughn) -- This big, fine, stocky blue roan Tennessee Walking Horse gelding with black points, black mane/tail, stockings comes from good, old fashioned walking bloodlines without one single reference to Pride, can you believe it?  Rodgers' Perfection, Ebony Masterpiece, Go Boy's Sun Dust and Merry Go Boy are still showing on his papers and his gait reflects all this old-timey classic blood.  Stevie Ray performs a beautiful head-shaking four-beat gait, as well as a nice, smooth, animated rack if you ask.  Then, he will slip into a really comfortable slow, rocking chair canter quite effortlessly and athletically.  Never any pace at all, and no tricks to his gait -- au naturale!  He's gentle natured, people-oriented, a stunning color, all around will be a lifetime quality Tennessee Walking Horse.

Stay tuned for more info on this fine horse as we haul him to different trails and expose him to lots of the world!
